 Gisela Wielki Director of the

Gisela
Wielki (b. 1944) grew up in Stuttgart, Germany. After receiving
her diploma in early childhood education, she spent a year in Chicago as
a student teacher. She also spent 6 months working in a Camphill village
for adults with special needs. In 1967 she entered the seminary of the Christian
Community in Stuttgart and was ordained at the age of 26. “I wanted to
work with people from the cradle to the grave and beyond, if
possible.” Gisela was sent to work in the congregation in New York
City in 1972. In March, 2002 she moved to Chicago to help establish and
direct the Seminary of The Christian Community.

Richard Dancey
Director of the

Richard
Dancey (b. 1945) grew up in the
Midwest and received a Masters
of Theology from Drew Seminary in New Jersey. “Growing up, I often
sensed in my faith something unsettling: it could not stand up all the
way—from the feet, through the heart, to the top of the head.” In
1977 Richard attended the seminary of The Christian Community in
Stuttgart and was ordained at the age of 34. He was sent to the
Devon-Philadelphia congregation in 1981. Married for 34 years, he has
three children. He moved to Chicago in July, 2002 to serve as its
resident priest and help with establishing and directing the Seminary.

Oliver Steinrueck
Director of the

Oliver
Steinrueck (b. 1961) was born
in Toronto, grew up in a Camphill Village in Copake, N.Y., graduated
from a Waldorf high-school and received a Master's Degree in
history. In 1989 Oliver entered the seminary in Stuttgart and went
on to work in congregations in Freiburg, Germany and Chicago.
"Sensing that the life of a city, the earth itself, becomes
different through the celebration of the sacraments and that this needs
individuals to carry it out, gave me the courage to pursue the
priesthood." In 2000, Oliver took on the task of regional
coordinator for the Christian Community in North America. |

Christa Macbeth Speech

Christa
Macbeth (b. 1947) was born in
California and grew up there and in Europe. She received an
undergraduate degree in English from Smith College, and went on to train
in creative speech in Dornach, Switzerland. For ten years she was
the speaker for Eurythmy Spring Valley, and taught creative speech at
the School of Eurythmy. Then she followed a longing to study
social work, earning an MSW from Fordham University and spending several
years after that as a social worker. When the plan for a seminary
was announced she was moved to offer what she could as a speech artist
and moved to Chicago. She also teaches English as a foreign
language to immigrants at one of the city colleges. |
